This Thursday's ride, 17th May, from Saltwood will be in memory of a good egg. As usual we will leave at 7pm and ride our local trails for a couple of hours, but some of us may be displaying white socks! For those who knew and have fond memories of fellow MTBer Richard Wood, whose trademark was his white oversocks, you are invited to show your respect on the fifth anniversary of his death by proudly wearing white socks (if you can't bear to wear them OVER your shoes, inside your shoes will be fine!)

A poem for Richard

So many lives have been enhanced

by Richard’s heart of gold.

Fond memories will stay with us,

like treasure we can hold.

But though our friend was snatched from us

a lot of years too soon,

look hard and he’s still in our midst,

a star bright as the moon.

We only have to look around

or listen to the breeze,

while cycling in the leafy lanes,

or through the frosted trees.

Each ridden mile, each pedal turned,

around the trails of Kent,

he’s there with us round every bend.

Just like he never went.

Rides are usually around a couple of hours, unless indicated otherwise.
Make sure you have all the kit, phone, lights, tubes and spares you may need - but most of all a helmet and a smile :-)

Rides are put together by local cyclists who enjoy riding with friends, but if you choose to come along, you do so entirely at your own risk. ACTiV only acts as a notice board for these rides and neither ACTiV nor any of the riders can accept liability for any injury or damage, however caused
