We are planning a MTB trip to the Yorkshire Dales for a change. We haven’t been before, so it is not tried and tested, but it looks really good riding. Check it out on the vid here:
We don’t have an itinerary yet, but will sort one soon.
The accommodation we originally looked at (the Dales Bike Centre) is booked all through Sept and Oct, but they recommended another cheap and cheerful self catering bunkhouse nearby, a converted barn which is available.
It looks nice but very basic, with 2 dorms on first floor (sleeping 10 and 14) with open plan kitchen/dining/lounge on ground floor. There are only 2 showers, 2 loos and 4 basins for everyone, plus you need to bring your own sleeping bag/duvet and pillowcase... so anyone expecting hotel standard accommodation, this won’t be for you.
Oh, and no mobile reception. (Probably a price worth paying for some wild riding off the beaten track!)
On the plus side, depending how many go, the 3-night accommodation will probably only cost £35 - £40 per person FOR THE WHOLE WEEKEND!
Here’s a link to the accommodation:
I’m sure we can sort our own breakfast, but there are pubs a short drive away where we could eat in the evenings. There’s a mobile chippy we can probably get fish ‘n chips for Friday evening :)
And with the accommodation being so reasonable, we may want to splash out on a guided day’s riding @ £25 per person.
Are there any techy volunteers to download and lead us on any of the GPS routes here?
We can sort vehicle sharing nearer the time.
The accommodation is on hold, but we need to confirm it before the end of Sunday 30 July.
Please let Debbie know before then if you can join us. Email firstname.lastname@example.org
